Moon (Luna)

The second brightest object in the sky after the Sun, the only natural satellite of the Earth and so far the only celestial object where humans left behind their footprints.
Actually the moon is much too big for a planet like Earth. It emerged from a huge meteorite impact in the early phase of Earth's history 4.527 billion years ago. Luckily, because since then it stabilizes the axis of the Earth and so our climate.

Distance to Earth: 384 400 km
Mass: 7.35 * 1022 kg
Diameter: 3476 km
Surface temperature: 255 kelvin
Orbit period: 27.32 days
