Galaxy M 77The spiral galaxy has a fast rotating central region with a diameter of 6000 light-years. This spins about three times faster than regions a bit further outside. So the galaxy winds itself up. After maybe 100 million years (which isn't long for a galaxy) M 77 won't be recognizable any more.Constellation: Cetus Distance: 52 - 60 million light-years Visual magnitude: 8.91 Diameter: 170 000 light-years Type: Sb Seyfert Back: List of the Galaxies |
