Calculate Veloctiy
Calculator for speed, distance and time, calculate one of these three values from the other two. Speed describes how fast something is, i.e. how much distance is covered in what time.
The formula for the calculation is: velocity = distance / time
v = s / t
Please enter two values, the third value will be calculated. Here, direction is ignored, so velocity has the same meaning as speed.
When entering kilometers and hours, the speed is of course in km/h, for miles and hours it is mph, while when entering meters and seconds, it is m/s.
It is very common that you change your speed when moving over a long distance, especially when traffic conditions, the terrain or similar factors change. Therefore, the speed as the quotient of distance and time is always only an average value in such cases.
Moving at a speed requires energy. Firstly, to get the object to a certain speed. Then energy is needed to overcome differences in height; this is the potential energy. If you are also moving in an environment where friction occurs, then maintaining the speed also requires energy. And you always have friction, as long as you are not flying through space. After all, there are always losses when converting energy into movement, depending on the efficiency factor.
When you are on foot or by bike, the energy comes from your own body and was previously supplied to it through food. If you have a motor, you need an energy source. Ideally, this is electricity, as in an electric car, because then the losses are much lower, the efficiency is significantly higher and the environmental damage is much less than with the technically outdated method of combustion.
