Calculates the average amount of caffeine in a drink. The caffeine content of some drinks can differ substantially from the values given here. E.g. if you use twice as much coffee per water as usual, then your coffe of course will have twice the amount of caffeine. Different brands of cola and energy drinks have different caffeine amounts. If you know the caffeine amount of a drink, rather enter the value yourself than using the average value given here. You can also enter your own contaier size.
A normal dosage for coffee is 6 grams of powder (3 teaspoons or 1 tablespoon) per 100 ml of water. During pregnancy, it is recommended not to consume more than 200 mg of caffeine per day. People with chronic high blood pressure should ask their doctor about this. Everyone else should not consume more than 400 mg of caffeine per day. Coffee powder contains 1.3 - 2% caffeine, decaffeinated coffee has up to 0.1%.
There are different and constantly new studies on the subject of whether and how much coffee or caffeine per day is healthy, what amount is safe and when it becomes harmful. There is still a need for research here. But as with everything, you should probably not overdo it and keep to a reasonable amount.

It has a psychotropic effect, i.e. it affects the psyche, but much less than certain other substances. Caffeine has a stimulating effect and can keep you awake. The body gets used to regular caffeine intake, so the effect wears off. For people who are used to regular caffeine, stopping it can cause effects such as headaches.
