Ring Nebula (M57)The most famous planetary nebula and one of the most beautiful. The white dwarf in its center has a surface temperature of 100 000 - 120 000 kelvin and is slowly cooling while the nebula fades away.The progenitor star was probably sunlike before it became a red giant and casted away its hull. Constellation: Lyra Distance: circa 2300 light-years
