The proto-star E42 is located in the Eagle Nebula, M16, a star forming region. The young star probably is very similar to our Sun in its earliest youth. It is the youngest known solar mass object. Its full name is EGG M16-E42.

Age: 6000 years
Distance: 7000 light-years
Mass: 1 * Sun
