NGC 1559 is a small barred spiral galaxy. On August 4. 2005 there occured a supernova of type Ia by the name of SN 2005df.

Distance: 46.6 million light-years
Visual magnitude: 10.45
Mass: 10 billion * Sun (1/7 of Milky Way)
Diameter: 50 000 light-years
Type: SBc Seyfert
