Galaxy Hoag's Object

One of the rare cases of a ring galaxy. Young blue stars form a ring around the old core, in between is a gap with only a few stars. This strange form emerged from a collision of two galaxies 2 - 3 billion years ago, whereas a smaller galaxy flew right through the middle of the former spiral galaxy.
