Circinus Galaxy

The spiral galaxy lies near the galactic plain and therefore wasn't discovered until 1975. Its center is surrounded by two rings with 130 and 700 light-years radius, the latter being a tremendous starburst region.

Diameter: 140 000 light-years
Type: Sb Seyfert 2
