Tadpole Galaxy

The peculiar spiral Arp 188, known as Tadpole Galaxy, has a long tail. This was created by another galaxy rushing right through it. In the tail are numerous and large star forming areas.

Distance: 420 million light-years
Visual magnitude: 15.0
Length: circa 400 000 light-years
Type: SB
