HD 82943

A sunlike star with at least 2 very close gaseous planets. That is until recently (May 2001). Measurements point that at least one of its planets with twice the mass of Jupiter has been swallowed up by the star.

Supposedly the star is still young and the much to close planet never had a chance to live long.

Constellation: Hydra
Distance: 89.56 light-years
Spectral class: G0
Visual magnitude: 6.54
Mass: 1.05 * Sun
