WOH G64 is a red supergiant in the Large Magellanic Cloud, which has formed a thick dust torus around itself. This consists of ejected material of the stellar hull and has a diameter of 30 000 AU. The supergiant, which has already lost much of its initial 25 solar masses, seems to be about to explode as a supernova soon, i.e. in a few thousand years.

Distance: 163 000 light-years
Spectral class: M5 - M7
Luminosity: 280 000 * Sun
