RS Puppis

This large Delta-Cepheid pulsates with a period of 41.4 days, changing its luminosity by a factor of 5. It is the only one of these stars known to be embedded in a large nebula. This, by reflecting light echos, made the very exact distance measuring (± 90 Lj) possible.
