RS PuppisThis large Delta-Cepheid pulsates with a period of 41.4 days, changing its luminosity by a factor of 5. It is the only one of these stars known to be embedded in a large nebula. This, by reflecting light echos, made the very exact distance measuring (± 90 Lj) possible.Constellation: Puppis Distance: 6500 light-years Spectral class: F8Iab Visual magnitude: 7,0 Luminosity: 15 000 * Sun Mass: 10 * Sun Diameter: 200 * Sun Back: List of big and giant stars part 2 02/12/2008 |
